LSAT Prep Games
Am I crazy? (An LSAT-related question)?
I'm a rising second-semester undergraduate--I've completed my first semester, and I'm currently taking a sabbatical. The LSAT is giving me a little grief. I've taken, under timed conditions, all but one test in LSAC's "10 More Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests" book, and while my scores have improved significantly from my initial 155 (my recent scores scores have fallen, without exception, within the 161-164 range), I'm afraid the raw scores I've been earning will not correspond to an equivalent range on more recent (June 2007- ) scales. Is my fear warranted? Am I crazy for having begun my LSAT prep at this juncture? I figure I should prep now, since I've got time on my hands. Also, what can I reasonably expect to get on the real thing given that:
(1) I've only self-prepped (and only w/ prep tests--haven't looked at TM's bibles, etc.)
(2) I consistently get 16-18/24 on games, 20-24/26-28 on RC, and 18-22/24-26 on LR
(3) I won't take a prep course
Thanks for your input!
You took previous "official" LSATs, which are just copies of old exams. If you consistently pull scores in the 160s, then you should reasonably expect your real LSAT to be there too but only if you are taking the exam under TESTED and TIMED conditions.
Also, the raw scores have been inching up higher in recent years. What might have gotten you a, say 160, five years ago will only get you a 158 today. So the trend is definitely heading upwards.
All I can say is, if you don't take a prep class just keep taking the practice exams (especially official ones), but focus on tested and timed conditions.
