LSAT Preparation Help?
Okay so the LSAT is one week from today. I have taken some practice tests and looked over a princeton review study guide and a kaplan games book.
How can I improve better on games? And does anybody have any tips on how to improve in the arguments section? I have sections of arguments where I only get about half the questions and a few where I have missed 5. . . . I don't get it.
There are tons if improvement tips depending on the type of game you are facing. The first tip is, know what type of game you are dealing with. If you study enough games, you start to see similarities and that will help you in responding more quickly and with more accuracy. Second, know how to diagram the rules. Don't be a good diagrammer, but a great one. Everything should be second nature and you should be able to set up the games like lightning. Third, practice enough so that you understand time pressure and how much time it takes you to do certain things. The more you know yourself, the better you can perform. In that vein, get a ton of practice tests and do as many games as possible. That will help out a lot!
If you get some more prep books, by far the best LSAT games book I found was the Powerscore LSAT Logic Games Bible. Hands down that book was better than the others I looked at, and I bought a lot of books while prepping for the test. It is very detailed and covers the steps from how to diagram rules to how to set up the games and make inferences. Look it up in a forum--people talk about it all the time.
As for arguments, they have a LSAT reasoning bible too, but it is huge--way too big for you to read in a week. With arguments, you have to read very carefully because they are always trying to trick you with similar wording that is incorrect. Knowing how to spot the premises and conclusion is also critical. You also have to know conditional and causal reasoning cold, because those two show up all the time on the exam.
It sounds like you probably could have studied a bit more, so try to take as many tests in this last week that you can. The more work you put in, the better you will do. Good luck!
