Illegal to scan a book?
Hey, I just found an intructor's version text book for a very popular class my town, would it be illegal to scan it into one giant pdf and "share" it via www or cd? any legal ramifications to this? I mean, I won't be making any profit off of it.
and what if it is for my own personal "backup"?
or what if i'm an instructor and i purchased this book and scaned it as a "backup"?
Yes it is illegal. It violates copyright law even if you aren't making a penny off it.
