What practical legal action can be taken when someone alters my writing?
I gave my permission to a group of writers, to use my story in their “self-published” style book, to promote that club. Since then I realized the leader took the liberty to change parts of what I wrote. She “cleaned up” direct quotes that changed the meaning of what was intended. I do not want my name on the piece she recreated for me, but it is already in print.
I am not seeking monetary relief. This group has no monetary value and I will not allow my work to be used by this group in the future, but I would like to know if there is any form of retribution. Can I force this woman to make a public apology and acknowledge what she did is wrong? Is there any action I can take against her or the group for allowing this to happen (she did do it to others who are equally offended)?
What practical legal action can be taken to teach her a valuable lesson? I will no longer be a part of this club, but I would like a clear and concise statement.
Well, I work in newspaper. The authors write a texts and chief editor rewrites them all, changes even meaning of the texts. Anyway, the authors are signed below the articles in newspaper. It is business. It is nothing personal.
