Will I have a hard time passing the CA Bar and finding a job, if I attend South Texas College of Law?!?!?
I've gotten accepted to a few law schools but none are in California (so far). As of now, I plan on attending South Texas College of Law. They're a good school, but it seems more regional, so if I come back to CA, my future potential employers might not be familiar with the school. Will that make it harder for me to find a job?!
ALSO, by attending a law school in Texas, they won't be offering any classes on the CA Bar...only TX Bar Prep courses, obviously. So that means, I'll be on my own to figure out the CA Bar and take some classes here (probably after I graduate). I'm a bit worried, because CA is known to have the hardest Bar Exam. What do you think? Will I have a hard time with the CA Bar, by going to law school in Texas?!
Don't forget the first part...about finding a job in California, after graduating from a Texas law school! Thanks!
You will not have a harder time finding a job in California if you go to law school in Texas. They are going to look at your grades and your rank in the class. After you are done with law school, move back to California and find a bar exam course in California. The bar exam course was the most beneficial course for me (as opposed to all of the law school classes) because it hands down prepares you for the bar. And regardless of where you go to school, the law that is taught in law school is pretty uniform throughout the United States so don't let that fear (the fear that you aren't learning the right things) deter you from going out of state. Just make sure to take a Cali bar course rather than a Texan bar course -- then you can get the specifics of the Cali bar exam. AND GOOD LUCK!
